Answer: Value chain analysis is defined as the stages that the raw materials undergo, before being transformed into a complete product. This chain highlights the key functions of a company. The chosen company for this assignment is Aldi (Metzger, 2014). Aldi being one of the largest retail chains in US and UK has a major dependency on the value chain. Aldi is able to gain competitive advantages, if its competitors are not using the same strategies. One of the main startgeis of the value chain analysis as mentioned by (Mukerjee, 2016), is the alignment of the diversifications with core competencies. The diversification strategies of Aldi includes its venture into the home goods and healthy living products, along with the sale of the grocery and meat. The diversification strategy taken up by Aldi is helpful in enhancing the value chain of Aldi, thus, gaining advantage over the other competitors (Mukerjee, 2016). Aldi is able to show superior performances, by exploiting the relatedness of market, along with advancements in the core competencies. Another strategy mentioned by (Mukerjee, 2016). Is the deployment of the resources towards the accomplishment of the key strategic goals. Various firms such as Hyundai and Samsung have gained competitive advantages over its competitors, by enhancement of the quality and improvement in the product design (Mukerjee, 2016). Thus, Aldi needs to take up the strategy of deployment of the resources towards the accomplishment of the key strategic goals.
